The past 6 months!

I really, really suck at this blog thing, but at least every few months I remember to update it.

Since my last post, I've had a birthday(the big 26), a 2nd anniversary, left my job, my mom visited and had lapband surgery. Can't think of anything else significant that has happened.

My birthday- in february I celebrated my 26th birthday. Nothing much to celebrate as the mood was still depressing. Reggie's funeral was only a week before my birthday and I still had him on my mind alot. Luckily, Frances returned to Dallas. She really is a strong woman and I admire her for her strength. I am not sure how I would've been able to handle what she went through and is still going through.

Anniversary - On St. Patrick's Day we celebrated our 2nd anniversary. This year we went to Hot Springs, AR and LOVED it. It was soooooo nice to get away for a couple days. Hot springs is a small town but has so much things to offer. We were able to do a riverboat cruise which was just so enjoyable. I still can't beleive that we have been married that long.

My job- I had been with Nortec for over 2 years. Helped my uncle pretty much start it. But there comes a time in your life when you have to walk away. This was my time. It was very hard to leave, as everyone there is pretty much family to me. I miss them daily and I know they are doing well.

My mom - my mom does her yearly trip to Texas around april. This year she came right at the end, so I was able to celebrate mother's day with her. Was also able to take her to New Orleans, LA and it was fun. I've never really done a road trip with her before and I can't wait for next year to go somewhere else. Of course, she shopped till she dropped(literally) but that's the most fun for her and I love watching her do it.

And the big finale - LAPBAND SURGERY. All my life I have been overweight. And not just overweight, but OBESE and now I am considered morbidly obese. Geesh! Last year I struggled with my health. I kept having complications after complications. And every doctor said the same thing, if you get some of that weight off, most of your problems will disappear. I've tried EVERY diet known to man, and while they all work, none had long term effects. So I started to do my research about what my other options were and lapband seemed to be the safest of them all. So in April, I started my journey. In july, my insurance lifted the 6 month wait limit and said I could go ahead with my surgery. On 08/21 I did just that. Recovery has been ok. Pain wise, I am doing just great. I am struggling with my eating because I cannot seem to drink those nasty shakes that I am required to. But in a week I will advance to baby food, so it will get better.

And that's been our life in the last 6 months :)
